The province was battered by a severe weather system that hit on Wednesday 25 June, with torrential downpours continuing into Thursday. Weather forecasters warn that wet conditions are set to persist through the weekend and into next week, raising concerns about further flooding and road damage.
Several major routes have become completely impassable, with some bridge structures completely washed away by the powerful floodwaters. Provincial Traffic Law Enforcement officers have been working around the clock, managing road closures and directing traffic away from dangerous areas.

For those who absolutely must travel during these treacherous conditions, authorities have issued essential safety guidelines:
- Slow down and maintain a safe distance from other vehicles
- Keep headlights on throughout the day for maximum visibility
- Never drive through flooded roads – water depth can be deceiving and road surfaces may be severely damaged beneath
