West Coast College was recently honoured at the Transport Education and Training Authority (Teta) Skills Summit held in Gauteng.

The college, named one of the top six technical vocational education and training colleges (TVET) in the country in 2019, received a trophy and certificate of excellence for skills development in the transport sector.

“West Coast College is proud to have been honoured by the Teta,” said Rhazia Hamza, West Coast College deputy principal for innovation and development.

“This certificate supports our vision to be an internationally recognised technical vocational education and training institution responsive to the skills development and training needs of the 21st century.”

Lumkile Ralarala, West Coast College Work Integrated Learning (WIL) Manager, received the award on behalf of the college.

“West Coast College is honoured to have received this award at this auspicious occasion,” he said, “and know the part we play in the skills development of the region we serve, could not be done without the support and assistance of our partner companies, who place our students and in so doing further assist in their training and development.”

The gala event was attended by various Teta stakeholders. Special guests included Dr Blade Nzimande, minister of transport, and Buti Manamela, deputy minister of higher education and training.
