Four students of West Coast College were among the top achievers honoured at its graduation.
The ceremony, held at the Malmesbury Town Hall on Friday 7 June, saw more than 500 students from the Vredenburg, Atlantis, Citrusdal, Malmesbury and Vredendal campuses graduate.
Top achiever awards went to Davina Kim van Schalkwyk, Charlo Christiaan Jonas, Hleze Mqayi and Francisca Nikay Swartz, all from the Vredenburg campus.
From all four campuses there were eight distinctions.
Van Schalkwyk received three distinctions for her NC(V) Level 4 Office Administration with three distinctions.
Jonas was the top NC(V) Engineering & Related Design Level 4 student.
Mqayi was the tourism top achiever and received two distinctions for NC(V) Level 4 Tourism.
Numbers seem to be Swartz’s forte. She received three distinctions for her Diploma Studies Business Management.
Aside from boasting top achiever awards, Van Schalkwyk and Swartz are West Coast College’s top achievers overall.
These women also received R15 000 in prize money for their impressive results.
Van Schalkwyk walked away with the CEO’s Award. She scored an average of 76,71%, while Swartz walked away with the Chairperson’s Award with an average of 87,25%.
“We are so proud of each of these graduates, who have done so well to completed their studies,” said Lungisa Mbulawa, Acting Chief Executive Officer and Principal of West Coast College, in his address to the ceremony.
“We know that the education and training they have received from West Coast College will stand them well as they pursue their future careers,” he said at the occasion.
