Carleton Lloyd Educational Trust (CLET) scholarships are the most prestigious scholarships awarded at Rondebosch Boys’ High School. The trust will sponsor three to four scholarships per year, per grade.

Carleton Lloyd was a passionate supporter of Rondebosch and its sport for more than 75 years. An avid follower of cricket and rugby, at all levels, he regularly accompanied Rondebosch sports tours around Southern Africa.

He was also an enthusiastic supporter of Rondebosch’s cultural and other activities, and contributed financially to the well-being of the school. A chartered accountant by profession, Lloyd was a leading figure in the Old Boys’ Union and served on the Union’s committee.

Because of his love for his old school he established the CLET, to which he generously bequeathed the major portion of his estate for the benefit of past, present and future pupils of Rondebosch.

“Lloyd supported one of the core values of Rondebosch, which is that learners must make use of as many opportunities as they can while here at school and maintain a well balanced approach to education giving priority to academics, sports, and culture. Ryan is a boy who fits this profile very well and should be a proud representative of what Lloyd, the Trustees of his Trust, as well as Rondebosch as a school stand for,” said Gustaf Pienaar deputy headmaster at Rondebosch Boys’ High School.
