The first economic recovery reconstruction dialogue took place at the St Helena Bay community hall on Tuesday 27 August.
Attended by various business owners, the purpose of the day was to give information on various entities who can assist businesses with either grants or information to apply for top-up funding. It also served as an opportunity for networking and discussing of challenges that business are experiencing.
This initiative was initiated by Government Communication Information System (GCIS) West Coast who hopes to roll it out in other areas as well.
During the day Simukele Khoza from the Department of Trade and Industry, Justin Moore, an official from the National Youth Development Agency, and Besal Nefdt from the Small Enterprise Development Agency had the opportunity to address those in attendance and shared more about their services and benefits.
Main speaker for the day was Venecia Palmer from Samoosa Boss who shared more about her business journey. Esmarelda Mckay from GCIS said the reality is that not everyone can work and job creators are needed. “This is where upcoming business plays a critical role to uplift the economy. We hope to have sessions in Matzikama, Cederberg, Swartland and Bergrivier.”
