As tourism re-emerges from a two-year hiatus in a post pandemic world, some very good news is making its way up the beautiful West Coast of South Africa. The world’s largest and oldest tourism networking organization, Skål International, is spreading its wings to open a new branch in the West Coast.

Skål International Cape West Coast will have at its heart the coastal town of Langebaan but will attract members from the entire iconic Cape West Coast tourism destination.

Long standing Skålleague and past president of Skål International Cape Town (SICT), Vernon Kirsten, suggested almost two years ago that the formation of a Skål Club on the West Coast of South Africa would be a no-brainer.

Earlier this year, together with Shirley Brown (also a past SICT President) and Hiliary van Wyk, a formation committee was established to get the ball rolling again.

Ahead of the launch of Skål International on the West Coast, membership development and information sessions were held at Cape Town Fish Market in Club Mykonos as well as at the West Coast Fossil Park. These events were extremely well supported and garnered the necessary support to go ahead with the official launch of a new Skål Club. Skål International, whose headquarters is in Torremolinos, Spain, has very strict criteria when allowing a new club to be formed.

On Saturday 17 September, Langebaan Boutique Hotel will host a black-tie dinner to inaugurate Skål International Cape West Coast. Any tourism professional is welcome to join in the festivities even if you have not yet decided to sign up to Skål International. Skålleagues from across South Africa will be in attendance, and you will be able to experience the valuable networking possibilities membership present firsthand. The cost is R495 per person.

More details will be made available at the time of booking. RSVP by Tuesday 13 September to hiliary@mweb.co.za. Availability is limited.
