On Monday 22 July it was all about the bell at Topolino Private School.
The Langebaan school celebrated its 20th birthday this year, and on Monday it inaugurated a brand new bell.
The school thanks Neil Builders and Dewaldt Leach for the beautiful display.
Every Grade 7 learner will ring the bell on their first and last days of school.
School principal Berdene Smith says of the bell: “Whatever we start we must finish – ‘I had been my whole life a bell, and never knew it, until at that moment I was lifted and struck’ (Annie Dillard). Be the bell you were meant to be.”
This year interschools competition was officially opened by the ringing of the bell.
“This week our pupils are reminded of the beautiful message of bells . . . with a bell on each one’s foot. Let others ring your bell. Be willing to help, to care and to be you!”
