The Saldanha Black Business Alliance (SBBA) founded in July 2018 by various black business forums and individual black businesses in the Saldanha Bay municipal area has recently elected its new leadership.
The SBBA was founded to facilitate and expedite the integration of marginalised black businesses into the mainstream economy of the municipal area.
At the establishment of the alliance it was decided too much spent from local developments – including the Saldanha Bay IDZ, Transnet and other major role players – went to initiatives other than local black businesses.
The new leadership of SBBA, elected on Thursday 28 November, says it is focusing on strengthening relationships among Saldanha Bay Industrial Development Zone (SBIDZ), the municipality, corporates and the private sector, to ensure black businesses will be an integral role-player for small medium and micro-enterprises in a growing economy.
The SBBA leadership will campaign for greater transparency and accountability among all role-players in its supply-chain processes.
The leadership said the organisation has identified various discrepancies in some processes in large companies in the area that will be vocal in tackling this issue in 2020.
The SBBA says it is unapologetic in its approach to constructive development and ensuring sustainability for black businesses in a region “dominated by monopolies”.
