The Louwville Early Childhood Development (ECD) Forum hosted its annual sport day with great success.
On Saturday 6 April, 17 local ECD centres took part in this event.
There was a variety of races, including a principals’ race, children’s race, scooter race, bean and bucket race as well as a father race.
The last race was a dress-up race, during which children had to stop and add a skirt and hat before they got to the finish line. Both children and parents really enjoyed this.
Twice the number of parents attended this year’s event, compared to last year.
The event was a fundraiser that will help improve ECD centres and be used to maintain them or for buying new educational toys for them.
The event organisers were especially encouraged to see the increase in number of fathers that were actively part of the sport day.
Forum members would like to thank the Early Learning Resource Unit (Elru) specifically Lucinda Faulmann, and the Department of Social Development’s Lionel Summers for being the master of ceremonies.
The forum is already busy planning next year’s event. Anyone looking to get involved in the event can contact Samantha Aheer on 078 030 9875.
