Bee Observation Centre

Just opposite the Dutch Reformed Church in Church Street, the Bee Observation Centre will give visitors an amazing view of what a working bee-hive is about.

Moose Farm Stall

Newly opened giving visitors an opportunity to buy hand craft from locals (phone Ilze Mostert: 079 873 1526; Facebook/moosefarmstall).

Passion for Wood

Billy Griffiths’ woodwork on display (083 646 8784; facebook/passionforwoodhopefield).

Monte Christo Theatre

Has a show running on Saturday eve – The Cat’s Meow (Christo 083 283 0719; facebook/montechristo).

Die BouSmous

Look for antiques and recycled material (Dolf 083 630 6708).

Stroll about the Town

Open plots have flowers in abundance for visitors to take pictures of, walk along the river and spot birdlife.

Plaasmol

A brand new 4×4 track opens this weekend at the Plaasmol.

Visit the petting zoo at the Plaasmol farm stall, 6 km from Hopefield on the R45 on the way to Vredenburg. They also have a pet shop, a curio and gift shop and a nursery. They will be open over the weekend from 09:00-17:00. They pride themselves on recycling and almost everything, from the chairs to the pergola, is made from recycled materials. Phone 082 301 7772.

Fossil Park

The West Coast Fossil Park is also situated on the R45 between Vredenburg and Hopefield.

Take a guided fossil tour to the dig site or have a meal in the coffee shop. To check opening hours and tour times, phone 022 7661 606.

Mill Country Fair

For fresh produce like eggs, jams, breads and vegetables, look for the red building in Church Street that houses the Mill Country Fair.
