After 25 years of working with young children, Juanita Conradie from Saldanha had to close her Early Childhood Development Centre during the lockdown.
To mark the beginning of this new chapter in her life, she says she entered Weslander and the Saldanha Bay Tourism Organisation’s (SBTO) #LekkerWeskus competition. Conradie was in tears when she heard she had won and could not contain her excitement, saying “this is just the perfect way to end off a challenging year”.
She will be taking her husband and parents with her to enjoy a culinary experience with SBTO chairperson Vallerie Murphy, also the owner of The Curry Bar in Langebaan and West Coast Chilli.
They will spend a night at the Langebaan Luxury Boutique hotel, new five-star accommodation that has not been officially opened to the public.
The foursome will be taken on a boat tour to get a first-hand experience of an oyster farm experience, after which they will have a traditional lunch at Pama’s African Restaurant in Middelpos, before moving on to Paternoster for a fish braai with the locals.
They can prepare to be woken by the sound of the waves while glamping at Sea Shack at the Columbine Nature Reserve in Paternoster, and spend the day gallivanting on e-bikes from WOW E-bikes, gallop along the Paternoster seashore on the back of a horse sponsored by Drikus Horse Trails, and take a walk with Dianne Heesom Green in the Cape Columbine Nature Reserve.
“With this competition we wanted to tell the rest of the Western Cape that the West Coast is open for business,” says Joline van der Merwe, editor at Weslander, “and will welcome them with open arms and also wanted to give our readers an opportunity to win a holiday to remember, especially after the challenging times we have experienced amid the pandemic.”
Murphy thanked all SBTO members for supporting the initiative, especially the amazing sponsors.
