Langebaan Hair Academy (LHA) is an accredited hairdressing trade test centre owned by Monique van der Merwe and Daleen Stuart and is managed by Estee Prangley.
The business was started in November 2020 and has managed to put up a training centre that meets all the Quality Council for Trade and Occupations (QCTO) and National Artisan Moderation Board (NAMB) requirements for a trade test centre as well as approved assessment centre.
They are also extremely proud of their first intake of full and part-time students who have an opportunity to earn while they learn. The centre is also registered with the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET).
Monique who is the head instructor, trainer and assessor is a qualified red seal hairdresser, and a professional with many years’ experience, as well as educational qualifications and is a registered NAMB assessor.
The other instructor, Isabel is a lecturer, assessor and moderator and has a wealth of experience and knowledge.
Colleen is the salon assistant, and is competent, always friendly and ready to help out whenever she is needed. She helps students when Monique is busy and keeps an eye on all the training and salon activities.
Estee, sparkling and efficient – manages the administrative side, learner administration, customer service and liaison, and is a great asset with her friendly and professional interaction with people. Lene helps out with marketing and design and the managers say they would not have been here without her catchy ads, hard work and dedication.
Mari, a qualified hairdresser is always there to help with advice, assistance and training when needed.
Every Friday LHA gives the students an opportunity to assist clients under the supervision of qualified hair stylists at a discounted price.
LHA says in an effort to accommodate more learners they have introduced a comprehensive online learning platform which incorporates theory as well as practical learning. This enables learners from anywhere to do the training.
