The Laaiplek Community Policing Forum (CPF) will hold their annual general meeting (AGM) on Tuesday 17 September at 18:00 in the Velddrif town hall.

AO Adele Visser emphasised that all community organisations are invited to attend the meeting.

The CPF creates an important platform for role players to work together to ensure that the community’s needs are addressed.

The South African Constitution makes provision for CPFs to bring together community organisations and the police in a partnership to find solutions to safety and security issues.

The CPF also promotes cooperation between the parties to protect the community from criminal activities and thus create a safe environment.

The CPF is also a civilian body which checks and promotes the efficiency, accountability and transparency of the local police.

“The increase in crime in our area requires us all to ensure that the CPF assists the police effectively in finding ways to combat crime and deal with our area-specific problems,” said Visser.

Interested organisations are asked to register as CPF members and nominate their representative before the AGM.

The form can be collected during office hours from Judy Theron at the Laaiplek police office.
