Learner enrolment for the next school year opens on Monday 17 February and closes 17 March 2020.
If your little ones are going to school, remember the compulsory school going age (Grade 1) is 7 years old in the year the child is in Grade 1. A child must be 6 years old the year they are in Grade R.
The Western Cape Education Department (WCED) encourages parents to apply to their school of choice through its online portal.
Parents are encouraged to apply to at least three schools, including their closest school.
Documents to have on hand when applying to a new school, be it for Grade R, 1 or 8, or if your child is transferring schools, is:. Birth certificate. Immunisation card. A transfer card/letter. Last school report card for learners who have been to school.. A study permit issued by Home Affairs for foreign learners.. A child may be registered provisionally if these documents are not available. The parent must be given a reasonable time to submit them.
