Residents of towns on the West Coast who want to have a say on how crime should be dealt with in their town are welcome to attend the respective community policing forums’ (CPF) annual meetings. This also applies to churches, sports organisations, businesses and other interested parties.
Come and make a difference and help discuss matters, such as the selection of a new management, crime fighting and other important issues about crime that affect the community.
The CPF creates an important platform for role-players to ensure together that the community’s needs are tackled. The South African Constitution provides for forums to bring community organisations and the police together in partnership to find solutions to safety and security issues. The CPF also promoted cooperation between the parties to protect the community from crime and thus create a safe environment.
A second function of the CPF is to check and promote the local police’s efficiency, accountability and transparency as a civilian body. The respective CPF annual meetings take place as follows:. Hopefield: Monday 11 November at 19:00 in the Hopefield Thusong Centre. Call Marlene on 072 805 6181.. Vredenburg: Tuesday 12 November in the Pigeon Club Hall (behind the Skilpad Hall) at the Vredenburg sports ground.
