Just when you think you have heard it all and can handle any news thrown at you, you hear about yet another tragedy that makes you sick to your stomach all over again.
Why is this happening? When will it stop? How can we combat these ongoing crimes? These are just a few questions many people ask themselves. Day in and day out we hear about people gone missing, young and old, and murders taking place in areas one would not expect.
But let’s be honest, crime does not care about your social status, gender, race or beliefs. It can rip one away from loved ones without any warning and bring heartache to those left behind.
It is mind-boggling how many of these incidents that occur right here on the West Coast, and in many other parts of the country, can be so senseless and unnecessary. It has instilled fear in South Africans, not knowing what will happen the moment they step outside their door, whether they are safe even in their own home. It is safe to say we are tired of this now, tired of criminals having the upper hand all the time. Surely there must be a chance for the good to outweigh all the bad? This state of affairs cannot be the world we live in generation after generation. Let us pray a miracle will occur and we can believe, once again, in a safer SA.
