The West Coast Business Chamber’s (WCBC) annual general meeting has been scheduled for 27 February and will be held at Juffroushoogte, outside Vredenburg from 18:00.

“We will presenting you with an overview of what we achieved and completed in 2019, and the activities and projects we have planned for 2020,” said chairperson Shanah Damonse.

The presentation will include the annual financials and details of the operating budget for 2020 and a decision will be made on new membership fees for the year.

“As per the constitution, my tenure as chairperson continues until 2021,” Damonse said. “We need to elect (or re-elect) eight members to fill the remaining committee positions of vice-chairperson, treasurer, secretary, and so on.”

She said if the committee does not operate with its full complement of nine members, several of the chamber’s planned projects will fall by the wayside, “so it’s vital to have a full, committed and competent committee.”

To be a committee member one has to be a member of the business chamber, be proactive, positive and enthusiastic about one’s business, a person with hands-on business experience and great practical ideas on how to grow and improve the business community on the West Coast.

“It’s time for them to get out of the ‘naysaying peanut gallery’ and put their talents and know-how to good use!” Damonse said.

Members can nominate someone they feel would be an asset to the WCBC.

A nomination form can be downloaded from the website weskussakekamer.co.za.
