The West Coast Business Chamber (WCBC) toasted a successful year, and looked back on some of its highlights at its annual general meeting (AGM) and Golf Day fundraiser.

The event was held at Langebaan Country Estate (LCE) on Thursday 21 November.

Shanah Damonse, chair of the WCBC, gave an overview of the chamber’s achievements and detailed their future plans.

She said: “It’s been a very busy year filled with change and lots of new things for the chamber which has ensured immense growth. We’ve gone through radical changes trying to bring more value to our members.”

Damonse also mentioned the chamber started building long lasting relationships with Saldanha Bay Municipality (SBM), the Saldanha Bay Tourism Organisation (SBTO) as well as other business chambers and forums.

“The chamber through its new initiatives like getting involved with community and sport,” she said. “We hosted our first youth careers day in conjunction with Vredenburg High School, which we hope to make an annual event. In collaboration with the SBTO and Boland Rugby we also hosted our very first Currie Cup game in Saldanha.”

WCBC also launched Chamber Air at the Saldanha airstrip last month to help cut time in traffic and attract more business and investors.

She adds that they’d like to achieve more benefits for West Coast businesses and get involved in more community initiatives.

“We’d also like to get involved in the Biosphere’s recycling projects and Dr Joseph Joshua’s dental clinic.”
