West Coast junior bowlers recently held their own at the annual Envar Buys bowls tournament, which took place in Oudtshoorn.
Three u-15 teams from the West Coast took part in a tournament that drew 136 players from across the province.
Bowlers Johanco and Eljana Kayser, Madelyn van Zyl and Paula Viljoen made up the Porterville team who beat the majority of their opponents. They made it to the play-offs for the bronze medal.
The Langebaan juniors where Gretchen Segals, Raquel Mack, Antholey Blooms, Haroon Ocks, Zecah Cupido, and Rea Nell from Langebaan Primary School.
Other local bowlers were Ezekiel Muller from Langebaanweg Primary and Montell Rooi from Vredenburg High School, who all took part as West Coast Bowls.
Bowls is now officially recognised as a Western Cape school sport and increasingly draws players from all age groups, across all communities, and in towns that are fortunate enough to have an active bowls club.
