The West Coast K1 development team together with the Velddrif Yacht Club conducted a river clean-up initiative on Saturday 6 April in Velddrif.
All the rubble that was collected was transported to the Yacht Club and collected by Bergrivier Municipality.
The team performed an effective clean-up operation and covered large sections along the Berg River leading up to the train bridge as well as the Bokkomlaan section towards the Carinus bridge.
According to the organisers initiatives like these go a long way to preserving the life of aquatic species from the harmful effects of waste and plastic within their natural habitat.
They feel this is a wonderful initiative which creates an enabling environment for children to learn and grow, in effectively looking after nature while enjoying it.
