Bergrivier Municipality is part of the South African Local Government Association’s (Salga) pilot programme, testing the development of its Waste Management App (Application).
The Waste Management App, which can be downloaded via the App Store on virtually any Andriod or iOS mobile device, was specifically designed to make it easy and convenient for residents to report any waste issues within the community to the local municipality, such as illegal dumping or even a pothole that needs to be fixed.
The App allows users to report issues in real-time and receive feedback on matters of concern. The App also allows for photos to be taken of the incident being reported, and details surrounding the issue (e.g. street name) can be added before sending the report to the municipality for further investigation. This app is currently being tested in-house, before it is made public. – Matthew Sheldon
